On July 5th, 2024, "SEVESKIG" and "(un)decided" presented their 2025 Spring/Summer collection at the Tokyo Olympic National Stadium. Drawing inspiration from The Beatles' song "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" and the ancient human ancestor "Lucy" discovered in Ethiopia, the collection explores the origins and evolution of humanity.
Models graced the runway accompanied by live music. The "(un)decided" collection showcased sophisticated and revealing styles, featuring original vertical-cut jacquard, floral sheer-cut jacquard, floral patterns created using salt shrink techniques, and colorful floral embroidery.
The venue featured a central stage with six mirror balls hanging from the ceiling, creating a space that scattered diamond-like lights. The first look was a draped white dress paired with a military-style khaki jacket.
The collection included masculine and feminine elements, combining military and street styles with dressy moods. Outfits featured layered tops in sheer orange and yellow fabrics with military pants, bralette-style tops with wide denim-like pants, and lace sheer knits with distressed denim. Leather and riders jackets were paired with dressy dresses and shiny black gowns.
"(un)decided" took inspiration from the colorful dancers in the promotional video for “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds”, showcasing original vertical-cut jacquard, floral sheer-cut jacquard, floral patterns created using salt shrink techniques, and colorful floral embroidery. The collection aimed to continue breaking new ground, offering limitless possibilities to the wearer, with a message that balanced beauty, realism, and lightness.
The SEVESKIG collection began with a riders jacket featuring three-dimensional lettering, such as "MOTOR CYCLE" on the front and "LUCY" on the back, paired with skin-colored pants. Additionally, tributes to Peter Max's motorcycle designs were seamlessly integrated, embodying the collection’s key theme: "NEO Hippie Style." As the keyboard performance continued, joined by a female vocalist and guitarist, the collection unveiled a blue suit with playful button accents on the sleeves and pant cuffs. Shirts and shorts featured cowboy-style embroidery.
The collection incorporated psychedelic color schemes again inspired by the promotional video, using original silk wool materials with a subtle shine and ombré checks. Jackets featured random motifs like faces, tigers, and pills that spelled out LSD, reflecting the theme. Sweatpants with the number 74 and rainbow-like colors, collage-like scarves and shirts, twisted and transformed ombré check shirts, and pants and coats with John Lennon-inspired tops were also showcased. Military-style jackets and pants with rainbow gradients and recycled-look denim pieces were highlighted.
Hand-painted leather items by artist RIDAWO featured rainbow-like gradients, while jackets and pants were produced using AI to gain new perspectives and imperfect expressions, themed around "Lucy." Patchwork of vintage clothing and ombré check wrap skirts reflected issues and culture in Ethiopia. These were made in collaboration with "AVANI.”
Both SEVESKIG and (un)decided blended street and casual elements characteristic of Tokyo, known as the capital of street fashion, with Japanese avant-garde, dressy, and beautiful styles. The collections brought this theme to life.
Designer Takashi Nagano commented, "The theme is based on the 3.5-million-year-old ape Lucy from Ethiopia. The name Lucy was inspired by The Beatles' 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds,' which was playing during the excavation, so we incorporated elements of the promotional video into the show. The men's elegant outfits were inspired by scenes from the video and John Lennon's attire. We included elements different from our usual American casual style."
The psychedelic and hippie movements of the 60s and 70s reflected a growing consciousness for peace and freedom, a sentiment still relevant today.
